Combining Foot and Imprint Scans
There are two methods to import foot and imprint scans into the software:
Method 1: iPhone and iPad App
- Open the app and select the "Foot + Imprint" scanning mode.
- Scan the foot inside the foambox.
- Perform a second scan to capture the imprint in the foambox.
- Upload the scans to the Cloud
- In the CAD system, use the Cloud Import button to download all scans.
Method 2: Software Import
- Open the software and click "Import 3D" in a project.
- Use the Foot + Imprint mode to select two files per side.
Ensure you select the correct files for each foot and its corresponding imprint.
Merging Scans
- In the project view, locate the "Merge 2 scans" row.
- Click on the "Merge 2 scans" row.
- Click "Merge" on the side you want to start with.
The "Merge 2 scans" row appears because the files are not yet combined into a single 3D scan. This step is crucial for creating an accurate model.
Foot Scan Alignment
- In the CAD system, you'll see the foot scan first.
- Click multiple times on the foambox to align the scan.
- Use at least 3 markers for accurate alignment.
- Use the Enter key on the keyboard to continue.
Imprint Scan Alignment
- For the second scan (imprint), select the foambox area.
- Add at least 3 markers to the foambox.
- Press the "Enter" key to continue.
- Use the Enter key on the keyboard to continue.
Fine-tuning Alignment
- The software will automatically align the two parts.
- You can manually move or rotate parts for better alignment.
- Click on a part and use the action buttons to remove unnecessary sections using the Clip button (e.g., excess leg area).
Settings
There are two options on the right in the settings:
- Adjust how much to remove from the scan part.
- Less removal: More foambox visible.
- More removal: More of the original scan removed.
Experiment with these settings to achieve the optimal balance between foambox visibility and scan detail.
Exporting the Combined Scan
- Navigate to the Export tab.
- Review the combined scan.
- If satisfied with the result, click "Save". If not satisfied move back to the previous tab.
After processing both sides, a new "3D scan" item will be added to the project.
Post-Processing
If needed, you can further refine the scan using the Repair function, which is explained in a separate section of the documentation.
Consider reviewing the Repair section to learn about additional ways to enhance your 3D scans.
